Between His Shoulders

Last night I lay on my bed in the dark, listening to the deep, restful sounds my husband made while he slept. It was comforting to my soul, him at rest, in his deep slumber. This man of mine. Who works so hard to provide for us, always giving of his strengths and time. And yes, a generous man he is to so many. He shows the love of God in the works of hands. Thoughts of my father came flooding through as well. A simple man, not complicated by no means. He did his very best with what life had handed him and what he had worked so hard for. Never have I heard him say an unkind word about another soul. He was a man of few words. Love in his countenance spoke softly. You could see it in the light, a twinkle in his eyes, and his tender grin. I lay there, my heart swelled, and it hit me as a woman...Oh, the VALUE OF A MAN!

I've shared with you in a former blog that my parents divorced when I was three years old. The times were so strange. When I was allowed to spend time with my father, I remember his strength! Being near him was a healing balm, a soothing ointment to my little heart!

Peering back into those days of my childhood and even more so now, I can see dividing lines have widened in the world we live. As voices rage to be heard, shape words sever, and the feelings of disunion mount up.

Be our reasonings just or unjust, pain in her groanings are heard and deeply felt. I question; have we lost our divine humanity? Who are we?

I think about the beginnings there in the Garden, where mankind was formed and fashioned after God Himself!

God molding from dust this first man, his stature, beauty in his brawn, dignity, integrity, and God imparted virtue! Him the first human formed, first to serve God. And God's very breath within him... a man FIRST! Covered in God's GLORY FIRST. Then taken from his body, she was fashioned NEXT! Woman! Such purposed beauty in its divine union, heavenly order in a Garden... But then it was closed!

Heartbreaking they listened to deception. Along with their betrayal, the birth of sin sent them away. Oh, but love would come after them...God in the flesh! For the sake of all... redemption! Fathered by the Holy Spirit of God, born of a virgin woman, HE came to us! The Son of God, the Son of man!

Between His shoulders He carried their corruption, and ours to the grave! In Him, in His last breath and in His resurrected life the ABSOLUTE is found! All of Mankind's worth... there in the LOVE of God and Himself laid down!

My prayer is that we would contend for each others greatness! Listening and seeing through our own redemption story! Because we know the mercy that was shown to us. In view of Him who hung on that tree...who has given us our VALUE!

What extraordainary BEAUTY is FOUND in THIS ONE MAN! Rightly do we love you! Rightly do we... LOVE YOU JESUS!
