The Rhythm of Life

It's another cold gray day outside. Looking out the window, thinking about my Father and his life spent. Reflecting I watch the wind blow, its movement is melodic in its rhythm. I'm taken by the branches on a tree swaying like a mother rocking and cradling her baby in her arms. She rocks back and forth. The swaying comforts the little one and contentment is found in its sweet flow. Here things slow down and the view widens and perspectives can be divine for the Child of God. Finding his or her rhythm in TRUTH…in such a day like this.

On a day like today I’d just come back from going up and down the highway southward bound. My darling Daddy was dying. Going through those Arkansas hills and Tennessee treetops bathed in light, brought a comfort to my soul. We went back and forth for over a year and a half. A sadness of days gone by, did hit me and the reality of change. But also the Lord's words “death... where is your sting?”.

The calls were made and  four of his six children with family and grandchildren were coming from afar, “he only has two days left” was the word sent out. Dropping everything and arriving nine hours later, at 3:15 am, my husband and I walked into his living room. There the room was silent except the sound of him fighting to breathe, heavy gasping, his eyes closed and an oxygen machine pumping air into lungs. The light from the muted tv shone on his precious frail frame.

In that moment, I saw a reality in that room! We are truly spiritual beings first. Created in love to love, made in the amazing image of God. With a soul, a mind, a will, emotions, an intellect, housed in a shell of flesh! And there my Daddy lay... with eternity housed in his heart and soon to be received into the realm of Glory. One last breath away and with hope abounding in me because I knew where he was going! And one day I would see him there!

I had been in conversation with the Lord about this day that was coming. Questioning. Will YOU go before us and be there with us, Lord? Will Your presence be felt? Will I be able to pray over my father freely and decree Your Word over him? Will we get to rejoice in song over Daddy?

His wife of fifty-one and half years often hid her tears from him, while giving him all her strength, wrapped in her marital love, she closed her eyes for a few moments grabbing some rest and their eldest son never stopped serving, giving his heart, his arms and time.

Where has the time gone? A man of God lay there with a lifetime of stories and love poured out. Hard times, good times, LIFE! I celebrated the more that awaited my father...The Kingdom of God and in the Light of King Jesus’ face, favor and blessings were before him!

Did you know It is written,  “He has made everything beautiful ( appropriate ) in its time! Moreover, HE has set eternity in their hearts” Ecclesiastes 3:11.

Eternity IN OUR HEARTS, the place of endless days... in God's  presence, there with Him and even here now within Him. WHAT A  BEAUTIFUL VIEW! Death has no hold on us, WE LIVE!  And this is our hope filled life who receive HIM! And Daddy did receive Jesus at the age of twelve years old. Though he did settle it as a grown up, once and for all. You know “ I do mean it, I believe and receive YOU as Lord of my life Jesus!”. I laughed because he told me, “ I was a bad boy… so I marched myself down to that Church House and I got saved !”.

And yes...the Lord gave me all that I asked for and far more above it! God's Kingdom came into that room!  The atmosphere was sweet and right, the way it was supposed to be, we gathered around him! There was a beautiful soft blue color over Daddys bed where angels worshiped God with us in song and prayer. We could hear them. That was a kiss from Jesus!

The sound of God's Word being read ushered in such peace, that peace washed over Daddy! His countenance changed, he began to rest.  Not long after that Daddy was received home in Glory!

And the Lord said :  “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into LIFE”.   John 5:24

Thank YOU Jesus for Your loving kindness towards us who believe!
